I just finished adding some local news and community events to the site. As always, I'm excited that the Norco Valley Fair is coming up. I love the parade, the rodeo, the rides, and of course....the food! This year, we're taking a bunch of friends and relatives, so I'm even more excited. We'll have little kids with us, and it's so fun to watch them on the rides and eating ice cream, cotton candy, etc. We'll fill them up on sugar and then send them home! ha ha ha...

David and I have been so busy working and trying to make ends meet, just like so many others these days. It seems like we have to work twice as hard just to keep the bills paid. Business is starting to pick up for David's sign business, which is very encouraging. We've seen a lot of small business owners starting to spend a little money on advertising, business cards, etc. It makes me feel like things are starting to look up for all of us.

And....can I just say....it has been unbearably HOT these past couple of days!!! I can't wait until the cooler months to arrive!

Oh, and... school starts on Monday! Yay!!!

Well, it's late, so I'll sign off for now. See you at the Fair!!

June 15, 2009

Well, it's definitely been a while since my last post.  Life has been a little crazy for us these past two months.  I, like so many others these days, lost my full-time job in April.  I didn't exactly lose it, but I finally had to quit because I wasn't getting paid regularly and I even had a paycheck bounce.  I had worked at that company for 12 years, but was so ready to get out of there.  It was a definite blessing for me to finally get up the courage to walk out of that place.

Fortunately, I'm a bit of a workaholic, and had been juggling at least 3 jobs for quite some time.  During the past 2 months, I have been working like crazy, still juggling several jobs, but was finally able to settle on just 2 (I realized that I couldn't work 24 hours a day and still keep a smile on my face).  Now, I am working at home, doing real estate appraisals for a few different companies (I'm also a licensed Realtor), and I also do some freelance website work and blogging for a local real estate office.

Now that I've finally settled into a better routine, I am devoting more time to this great community website that David and I started.  I also help David with his sign business when I have time, and when he lets me (I'm not very good at sign making).

So…  with that said…   its time to start posting links for all the upcoming events that the summer months bring us here in Norco.  We've got the 4th of July events coming up, the fair and parade, and a bunch of others that I'll be posting up over the next couple of weeks.

And, people are still sending us photos, so we'll get more of those posted, too.

I have been posting photos from the last rodeo, and still have many more to post from the Challenged Children's Rodeo. Those kids are so special, and there were so many wonderful photos, that I just can't seem to stop!

Happy summer everybody!!  We'll see you around town!!

Horse week has started! Yippee! We went to the rodeo last night and had a blast! David handed out "I Love Norco" stickers to everybody, and it seemed like everybody was excited to get them. Of course, there was lots of great food. We had pizza from the Filippi's booth, cheeseburgers from 6th Street Deli, chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate covered frozen cheesecake (unbelievably good), and funnel cake. After eating, it was time to go sit down to watch the rodeo. A touching tribute to the late Hal Clark started off the event, followed by a beautiful narration by John Wayne of "America, Why I Love Her" set to America the Beautiful. I had never heard that before, and I thought is was beautiful.

After that, we were treated to the Star Spangled Banner, sung by Norco Intermediate's chorus, directed by Mr. Betts.

Then the rodeo got underway, starting with the bull riding event. Boy, those bulls were not very cooperative and they sure didn't like the cowboys. We took a picture of Elvis the bull, so I'll be posting it on our photo page soon. The next event was the calf roping event, which is not exactly my favorite. I secretly cheered when one of the little calves got away without being roped. I know it's a rodeo, and they gotta do all those cowboy/rodeo things, but I hate seeing those cute little calves get knocked down!

The rest of the rodeo was great. We didn't stay too late - I guess we just can't hang with all those beer-drinking cowboys - must be getting old. Ha ha...

We also went to the parade this morning. We got there early and handed out "I Love Norco" stickers, pens and t-shirts. The crowd loved them. I can't wait to see "I Love Norco" on everybody's cars!

The late Hal Clark was honored at the beginning of the parade as the honorary Grand Marshall.

I loved the parade, as usual. Where else would you find a parade where 99.9% of the paricipants are horses? Only in Norco, of course! There were so many beautiful horses, and I absolutely love the miniature horses, and the dancing horses, too!

We saw many of our friends in the parade - Melissa from Norco High was riding, and she looked so pretty! Brianna from Norco High was marching in the ROTC. Micki and Brian from Filippi's were riding with the Saddle Sore Riders, and our friends from the Renaissance Faire in Koroneburg were riding in the parade.

Both the rodeo and the parade were great community events. We took lots of pictures, and we'll be posting them on the Photo page over the next few days! We'll be going to the Challenged Kids Rodeo on Sunday, and we'll take pictures there, too.

March 29, 2009

Well, it's Sunday night, and we're winding down from a beautiful weekend. The lovely spring weather brought out a lot of people here in Norco. There were a lot of people out riding their horses, and all of the animals were out enjoying the beautiful sunshine.

David and I had a busy week, as always, but managed to get out to some of our local restaurants during the week and over the weekend. We finally made it to Bob's Big Boy, which has been packed since they opened. It was great having the Big Boy Combo. I haven't had one of those in over 10 years!

Thursday nights you can always find us at Filippi's Pizza Grotto, and this past Thursday was no exception. Their prime rib is the BEST!

And Pat's Kitchen was our choice for Breakfast this morning. I absolutely love their country gravy!

David eats lunch out a lot during the week, and it's hard to remember where he ate, but I know he's been over at Sixth Street Deli a lot. Their sandwiches and salads are great, not to mention those juicy cheeseburgers!

He just walked in, so I asked him where he ate during the week. My goodness, we really do our best to help out the Norco restaurants! He ate at Silverado Burgers, Rodeo Burger, Cowgirl Cafe and Filippi's.

Just so you know, I really do cook (occasionally)!

Have a great week,

~Tammy

Just a quick note to let you all know that we have had an overwhelming response to our website and will be posting the photos, funny stories, community events, etc., that you all have submitted. You'll probably notice a lot of content added each weekend because Tammy posts all of the content, and she has a full-time job, so she'll have more time on the weekends to update the website.

Tammy will also be writing the blogs whenever she has something she wants to write about, which will probably be on a weekly basis. She already has lots of things she wants to write about, so please keep checking back!
